Christine has worked in Iraq since 2008. For a decade she helped build the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS), teaching and setting up its Career Services, policy institute, Entrepreneurship initiative, and advancement office. In her work as director of the policy institute, she conducted research around key areas in Iraq and published widely on local politics and society. In 2018 she left to found Baghdad Business School (BBS), a one year program in Business, English and Professional skills that prepares Iraqi university graduates to work in the private sector. BBS graduated its 5th cohort last November and its 6th class is halfway through the program. Christine will talk about building institutions in a challenging environment and the impact of American style education in Iraq and the Middle East.
